Smoldering Nights Released TODAY!
I started my posts when I received a contract from Ellora’s Cave. And now I’m at the happy, happy day of the book release!
I’d been counting down the moments. Watching the calendar. And waiting. And now it’s here.
So from an idea one summer when I thought – I don’t care how many vampire stories there are out there. I love them. I’ve always loved them. And I’m going to write my own – my story is published.
Please check it out at the Ellora’s Cave site and celebrate with me!
Six Sentence Sunday
This Sunday, July 29, I’m participating in Six Sentence Sunday.
Stay tuned for six sentences from Smoldering Nights!
Smoldering Nights Coming Soon!
Nike loves visiting the goth club Vamps—she can exchange her firefighter uniform for a slinky fantasy outfit. There she runs into the man she’d been admiring from afar at a rock climbing gym. He’s been the star of all her fantasies, so is it any wonder they end up in his private room upstairs? Just when things begin to heat up, Michel’s enemies appear.
Only Michel isn’t an ordinary mortal. And someone from his past is on the hunt for vengeance. Michel and Nike are forced on the run and hide out in a coastal cottage in Maine. They can’t resist their attraction and spend the nights exploring each others’ bodies while trying to sort out how they feel about each other. Can they overcome their differences to be together? And how will they evade the predators who are chasing them?
Fiery Nights Ahead!
Great news!
Fiery Nights, the sequel to Smoldering Nights, has received conditional acceptance from Ellora’s Cave. I absolutely loved writing this story — the characters, the setting, the relationship. It needs revision to clarify some things, but I don’t mind at all. I’m looking forward to working on this story again.
You know what this means? It’s my sign to register for Romanticon. Hell yeah, I’m going!
Will I see you there?
From Novella to Series?
Ideas that sprung from Smoldering Nights keep coming to me. I wrote the second book and am on the third, jotting down ideas for more characters down the road. So now it’s time to come up with a series name. Exciting!
However, it is also the reason I’m up at 3am. And my devoted husband is up, too, coming up with some good ideas for me.
If you’ve created a series, how did you come up with the title?
Smoldering Nights Release Date Announced!

I’m very pleased to announce that Ellora’s Cave will be publishing Smoldering Nights on 8/8. What a date for a launch!
I spent Bastille Day editing scenes with my hot French vampire. Fitting, don’t you think?
More details to come. Now I have to head up to Boston’s North Shore to get some inspiration for the third book in the series. Gloucester, Rockport, perhaps? We’ll see what the day brings. I’ll bring my netbook and find a cafe.
Several other EC authors will have a release that day and I’m very excited to join the group. We need to celebrate virtually!
The Cover Arrived Today!
Today, I received the cover art for Smoldering Nights. I can’t describe the anticipation in the moment before opening the image.
How will they picture the characters?
Will it work with the story?
Will it show the right tone?
I opened it and stared for one long moment. They look so real. And so HOT! Look at him — he’s a perfect Luc. Oh yeah, I’d want him, too…
Um, ahem. What was I writing again? Oh yes, the cover art.
She looks just stunning. I love the intensity in her eyes. And the fire on the bottom is an awesome touch.
Then there’s my name. This is actually the cover to my book! My first book with Ellora’s Cave.
I’m working on the sequel now — a story that keeps coming to me as I write — the story and characters coming more alive each day. Well, last night there was a Word mishap and I lost two days of writing. Two days of scenes I really liked! So I was forlorn all morning thinking about how I could have spent all that time reading, spending time with family or friends, or just staring out the window if I felt like it. And then, this cover arrived at the perfect moment to inspire me to keep on writing.
Here it is — the cover!
