Reedeming ReganTwo rough endings can equal one hot beginning.

Raygan Mason is done with love. After plenty of failed relationships, he wants nothing of the emotion. He’s broken inside and believes he’s not worthy of redemption…until he meets a man named after a car. Then his structured, but closed off world gets turned upside down.

Jamie “Jeep” Grusin isn’t big on love, either. Fresh out of a marriage filled with cheating and lies, he’s not looking for another partner. The writer wants a fresh start and is told Zero will cure what ails him. He’s not convinced…until he ends up at Eight Ball bar.

Can two men who think they are totally wrong for each other find out that redemption and a new start is so right?

He drove nearly the length of the main street before he spotted the bar. The gigantic eight ball wasn’t lit, but there were lights on within the building.

“This must be the place. Jeep pulled into the parking lot, then stopped. He grabbed his wallet, phone and notebook. He refused to be anywhere without a paper and pen.

The bell dinged as he headed into the bar. Two men stood behind the counter.

“Sorry, buddy,” the black-haired man said. “We’re closed.”

The taller man shrugged. “Bobby, lock the main door. We can go out the back when we’re done. One patron won’t hurt anything, but I don’t want a group coming in.” The man turned his attention to Jeep. “What’ll you have?”

“Uh—” He’d always known what to say in every situation, but not now. Looking at the brown-haired man twisted Jeep’s tongue. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. “Which one of you has a place for me to stay?” Holy shit. What an unintentional come-on!

Both men froze. Jeep knew exactly what he’d said and wished he could’ve taken it back. He scratched his forehead. Shit. He needed to unlearn that bad habit. Still, the nervous gesture gave him time to think.

“I meant, I’m new in town and need a place to rent for the next few nights. My publisher, Nelson Vickers, told me someone here has a place for me to stay. I need it while I’m writing.”

“You must be looking for Sam,” the black-haired man said. “He’s got half a duplex.”

“Yeah.” Jeep nodded. “Him. Which one of you are him?” Hopefully the taller guy was the man he needed to see. He wouldn’t mind spending some quiet time with the handsome man.

“Neither. This is Bobby and my name is Raygan. Sam, the one you’re looking for, works at the community center. It’s closed now, but I’d be willing to bet he’ll help you in the morning.” Raygan placed a coaster on the bar top. “Want a beer?”

About the Author:

When she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.

When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school. She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best. The cabana boys are willing to serve, unless she needs them. She always need them. So be nice to Javier or he will bite–on command.

She also masquerades under the name Wendi Zwaduk and is published through Ellora’s Cave, Changeling Press, Decadent Publishing , Liquid Silver Books, MLR Press, Resplendence Publishing, and Total-E-Bound Publishing.

 Blurb

???????????????????????????After catching her boyfriend cheating the week before Christmas, Brinn is seriously lacking in holiday spirit. So when she looks into the eyes of a last-minute shopper after closing on Christmas Eve, she’s sarcastic rather than sympathetic. But Brinn is ever the good girl and her conscience wins out. She offers the handsome stranger ten minutes to select a gift and ends up with a present of her own—a date. On Christmas Eve.

Davis hates Christmas. Especially this year, since a neighborhood heist liberated him of his hard-earned belongings and the few gifts he’d purchased. But the robbery led him to a cute store manager with a sense of humor, smokin’ body and no plans for the evening. Mistletoe might be in order after all.

Their Christmas Eve date is like gift-wrapped, sexy satisfaction. But the best gifts keep on giving, and one naughty night may not be enough—for either of them.

An Excerpt from GIFT WRAPPED, Chapter One

Brinn ducked behind the counter and killed the loop of festive tunes. Ah, glorious silence. Nothing like eight to ten hours of merry music every day for two solid months to squeeze the last drop of festive spirit from your soul. Thank god she’d said her last, politically correct, “Have a great holiday” for this year.

She straightened, surveyed the chaotic state of the small chain store she managed, and looked into the face of a dreaded beast—the solitary male with an unfinished shopping list.

There was one every year. Usually a mid-fifties man with desperate, pleading eyes and a frown because he’d just realized—at closing time on Christmas Eve—that he didn’t have enough gifts under the tree. This year’s last-minute shopper didn’t look more than mid-thirties, tops. A hint of anxiety played on his face, but it didn’t diminish his good looks. Shaved head, strong jaw, warm eyes. Wide shoulders filling out a black cargo-style jacket. Very nice. His fingers curled around the rungs of the metal roll-down door. He flashed a charming smile to go with the eye contact.

Good try, buddy, but it is so not happening.

Didn’t matter how attractive he was, Brinn didn’t return the smile. That’d only encourage him. Instead, she gave him a view of her back and resumed setting the store to rights.

Apparently dude missed the memo on interpreting body language, because the metal rattled behind her. Thirty seconds later, he lightly shook it again. Seriously, he thought that’d work?

“We closed at five.” She tossed the words over her shoulder. Best acknowledgement he was going to get.

“Yeah, you and the rest of the world.”

Exactly. Now get moving. Too bad she couldn’t say that out loud.

“Look, I know I’m late, but I only need one more thing. It’s kind of an emergency.”

She shook her head, hoping to hell he saw it. “Sorry, can’t help you. The superstore on Weber Street is open until seven tonight for emergencies like this. Perfume is a lovely gift—I recommend Glow by JLo.” The very thing she’d hoped to get from Liam. The idiot had bought it, she’d found it tucked between his t-shirts. He’d just put another woman’s name on the gift tag for tomorrow. Lousy jerk.

“Thanks for the suggestion, but the person I’m shopping for doesn’t wear perfume.”

Well la-de-da for her. Brinn sighed and rattled off the next item on her personal wish list. “You can’t go wrong with chocolates. The Lindor balls wrapped in foil are my personal favorite. Especially the white-chocolate kind.”

A deep laugh rumbled from the other side of the metal mesh. “Good to know.”

Brinn smiled at the comment. The pushy guy had a nice laugh and a sexy voice, she’d give him that much. “Look, I’ve already closed off the register…I couldn’t sell you anything if I wanted to.”

“I have cash. I’ll be fast and I’ll give you a big tip at the end.”

“Wow, that’s quite the proposition. I know my skirt’s a little on the short side, but I’m not that kind of salesgirl.” She waited, but sexy-voice guy didn’t say another word. Or rattle the cage.

She half-turned to sneak a peek. Gone. Which should be a relief, but stirred her guilt instead. Her disappointment too.

She moved to the door and spotted him three stores down, walking away. “Hey,” she called. No answer—except from her conscience. Ah, crap. She turned the lock and rolled the door up enough to scoot underneath. Biggest mistake ever, coming right up. Well, second biggest. Moving out here to be with Liam currently held the number-one spot.

She did a ridiculous, high-heeled jog past several darkened stores. The sound of her heels echoed in the quiet mall, but the guy still didn’t look back. “Hey, wait up,” she said again, once she had him within arm’s reach.

He stopped so abruptly that she plowed into him. And bounced off, because he was that solid. Oh man. Now that they were face-to-face, without the benefit of a heavy-duty metal screen separating them—or any witnesses to speak of—he was a bit intimidating. Not super tall or monstrously built, but she didn’t doubt for a minute he was capable of kicking some serious ass.

“I, um…” Dry mouth plus empty brain much? His intense stare didn’t help matters. She cleared her throat and tried again. “C’mon back and I’ll try and help you find something for your wife.”

“I’m not married.”

“Okay, for your girlfriend.”

His jaw ticked. The corners of his mouth lifted in a sexy half grin. “Not shopping for one of those, either.”

Awareness zinged her, heating her cheeks and making her nipples tingle before settling between her legs. “Sister, aunt, granny, roommate, long-lost childhood friend you recently reconnected with on Facebook…whoever she is, I’m giving you ten minutes to find her a gift from my seriously depleted stock. Take it or leave it.”

“I’ll take it. Thank you.” His genuine, full-face smile nearly melted her knees out from under her.

“Great.”

“You’re really saving me here.”

She flapped a hand at him as they walked. “No problem. Glad to help.” Clearly she’d had too much stale mall air. This after-hours personal-shopping stint would likely set her back thirty minutes, not ten. She still had the daily reports to complete and a couple hundred gaudy Boxing Day sale tags to attach. At this rate, it’d be close to seven o’clock before she flopped on her couch with a bowl of soup and the annual cable presentation of Frosty the Snowman.

Yet she still had a stupid smile plastered across her face. Good lord. A couple of weeks without a boyfriend had reduced her to this? Maybe it wasn’t too late to send a note to Santa. Perfume and chocolates weren’t the only things on her wish list.

What Could Make Halloween Better? A New Release!

Rock My SensesEvery October, I go a little crazy decorating my house for Halloween. It’s pretty much the only party I throw for fun–you know, not for a holiday or birthday. I love making eerie, but yummy food, like spooky cupcakes.

This year will be extra awesome as I will have a new release on Halloween! When my publisher told me that Rock My Senses was scheduled to be released on Halloween, I was thrilled. What a better treat is there than a new release? Well, I may have to scale back the usual Halloween festivities this year since book releases take a lot of work, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

I also have a new release that just came out two days ago. Knights of Stone is a forbidden paranormal romance between a gargoyle shifter and a tree witch and it’s been getting great reviews. Here’s more:

Knights of Stone

Highland Gargoyles 1

KnightsOfStoneGargoyles, tree witches, and wolf shifters have divided the Isle of Stone after a great battle twenty-five years ago. When Kayla, a tree witch, hears about the unconventional rock concerts in the gargoyle’s territory, she sneaks from her coven and into their territory to see for herself. Night after night, she returns to see one in particular shift into human form and play guitar at these unconventional shows.

For several nights, Mason has kept watch for the pixie-like female. He plans to seduce her, thinking she’s a visitor from another island. When he discovers she’s one of the tree witches, he retreats, attempting to keep his distance. The temptation is strong, but forbidden.

Kayla and Mason attempt to meet in secret, but other elements on the isle command their attention. A magical cloak created by the three clans on the island is thinning, leading to repercussions for all the clans. Kayla and Mason are caught in the middle of it, and their actions may change the fate for all.

My Sexy Saturday – 7 from Knights in Stone

Great to be part of another My Sexy Saturday. I’m happy to share seven paragraphs from my new release,  Knights of Stone.

***

Murmurs of astonishment burst from the crowd as the transformation began. Their cries of fervor grew louder as the monstrous statues transformed into taller, slimmer figures with the bronzed skin of warriors who battled under the midday sun. The tartan fabric fell over their thighs as they stood erect, covering their nudity.

Kayla barely blinked, mesmerized as always, as the statue before her stood to full height, taking on the form of a human male, but with beautiful raven wings. Hair just as black snaked rebelliously past his chin. The stony eyes flickered with animation, turning to a mossy green. His deep gaze seared the audience, seeming to burn anything in the path. When he found Kayla, he stopped. His expression was unreadable, but the intensity in his unblinking eyes made her swallow. She froze under the scrutiny as if hypnotized, unable to break eye contact. Her stomach lurched, heart pounded, and every muscle in her body tightened, fueled with blood now scorching through her veins. His penetrating appraisal affected her so. When his eyes took on a smoldering glint, her skin tingled and a red-hot awareness grew between her thighs.

He broke the stare and continued to assess the audience. She gasped, not realizing she had been holding her breath, and panted while she tried to breathe at a normal rate.

He turned on robust legs and strode to a guitar stand. She tore her eyes from him to note the other gargoyles. They, too, had shifted into the form of striking males. One had black hair draped further down his back, one had long blond hair, and two had reddish-brown hair—one wavy and shaggy, the other straight. They took their place at other instruments. She sought the guitarist again and caught the first sound of the pick striking the strings. On hearing the guitar projected through the amp, the crowd roared again, pressing Kayla forward.

The freak show was about to begin.

Spotlights flooded the musicians, powered by solar panels near a massive amplifier. The guitarist continued playing and the others joined in, playing a raucous crossover between hard rock and heavy metal. The one with long blond hair grabbed hold of the microphone and belted out a shattering cry that sounded like a call to battle. The crowd went pin drop silent to listen and then cheered in unison as the band played on. The front man sang piercing growls and low croons about the Knights in Stone, the protectors of the ancient forests, battling against the evil tree witches.

Kayla’s coven.

Excerpt

“Daniel, if you’re in the bathroom come out this minute.”

The entrance opened, and he stood in the doorway.

Problem, he wore only a towel.

Awe, shit…she didn’t need to see his bare chest covered in crisp dark hair, the sculptured muscles of his arms and shoulders, developed pecs, and thick thighs.

Damn, how was she supposed to resist such temptation?

Desire added with the anxiety she’d already experienced on her drive here, lit her anger. “Why the hell didn’t you answer your phone? I’ve been calling and texting you for the last two hours.”

A confused frown passed over his handsome face. Instead of responding, he stepped to the bedside table. He lifted his cell phone and clicked a few buttons.

Unable to contain her impatience, Karen stalked forward.

He glanced up when she grew closer and showed her the phone. “I don’t understand it. I don’t show receiving any messages or calls. The signals must have gotten lost because of the storm.”

She’d suspected as much. Still, she refused to let him off the hook because he could’ve contacted her before he left town. “You should’ve called me. But no…”

Having endured his inability to communicate for months now, she stabbed her finger through the air at him. “You never call. You always expect me to phone you. Well, I’ve had it.”

The distance closed between them and she stood inches from him. Her fingertip tapped his chest. Static electricity sparked between them and her fist unfolded. She stumbled backward.

“Whoa.” Daniel caught her around the waist with one hand and held her close. His phone landed on the bed before he circled his other arm around her.

His strong grip held her steady and didn’t allow her to step away. “You’re right. I guess I’m just use to…”

“Don’t say it. I’ve heard it too many times. Sharon might have resented the interruptions but I’m not her. I’m never in any type of meeting that you could possibly disrupt.” Karen spread her hands over his chest and worked to maintain a smidgen of distance. Nevertheless with him so near, his warmth surrounding her in a seductive cocoon, she had to fight the urge to melt against him.

“Yes, but if I called you whenever I wanted we’d never get off the phone.”

The husky tone of his voice pulled her gaze upward.

A Romantica® paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Excerpt

Unable to resist the scent of heaven that had lured him to her in the first place, he buried his face into the fall of her raven hair. She smelled of something fruity and exotic. He couldn’t place the scent, but it compounded his craving. He wanted to devour her.

Deep breaths filled his lungs with her signature fragrance. Dizziness gripped him. He tightened his hold on her to stop himself from swaying and unleashed his will to influence her. With the few drops of his blood in her body, he wasn’t sure it’d actually work, but he had to try something.

“Calm down. I’m not going to hurt you.”

She hiccupped. The fingers scratching at his back stilled. He waited a moment for her to succumb completely to his order. Her tense body and rapid heartbeat didn’t lessen as they should have. More expletives whipped through him at the implications of her resistance. He took another breath to calm his racing pulse.

“You’re going to bring the authorities here. They’ll harass me, maybe toss me in jail, all for kissing you. You don’t want that.”

“Don’t I?”

Shit. He dropped his forehead to her shoulder and reined in his power. It was pointless to expend the energy if she was resistant to it. “No, you don’t. You can’t blame me for losing control when faced with temptation. You’re beautiful, Cat.”

She turned her head. He eased back and met her probing eyes. “How do you know my name?”

Book Spotlight: Temptation in Tartan by Suz deMello

Welcome to my fellow Red Hot Author’s Cafe and Ellora’s Cave author, Suz deMello.

Tempation in Tartan

Suz deMello

One of my more popular books is Temptation in Tartan. This book sat at #1 on its list at All Romance Ebooks for a week! If you’re intrigued by the idea of sexy vampires in kilts, this is the book for you! Here’s a snippet to sharpen your appetite:

temptationtartanStop! You cry. What’s it about?

Okay—here’s the blurbage:

She had to marry a monster…

Rumors had followed the chieftains of Clan Kilborn for centuries. Said to be descended from the Viking Berserkers, they were ferocious in battle, known for tearing off the heads of their enemies and drinking their blood.

But English noblewoman Lydia Swann Williston would marry Kieran, Laird Kilborn, to bring peace to the Kilborn lands after the horror of Culloden and the brutal pacification. A widow, she also brought needed wealth to Clan Kilborn. For her part, eighteen-year-old Lydia wanted children. With her husband killed at Culloden, she would make a new life in the Highlands.

The old chieftain of Clan Kilborn also died in battle, and she hoped that the new young Laird would lack his ancestors’ ferocity.

She was wrong.

And now, here’s the excerpt:

Edinburgh, 1747

The dark, mysterious stranger took Lydia’s free hand and led her into the garden surrounding the Menhardie mansion. The broad summer moon cast shadows that shifted with the breeze, so she could see little but could scent much—the fragrance of plants and newly turned earth, the attar of roses she’d touched to her pulse points and, daringly, between her breasts. Most of all, she drew in the male aroma of the stranger who’d taken possession of her hand, a scent reminiscent of midnight and secret longings.

He led her deeper into the knot garden. Trees, swishing in the breeze, blocked the manse from her view. She inhaled sharply, realizing she’d walked willingly, alone, with a man she knew nothing about, into what was not only a compromising position but possibly a dangerous one.

As though he sensed her fear, he released her hand. “Would ye wish to sit?” He waved his hand at a stone bench.

She touched it with a forefinger. Moisture seeped through her glove.

“Dinnae fash yerself.” The stranger sat and held out his arms. “Come here.”

She hesitated. “I’m affianced. ‘Twould offend my new husband.”

“No one can see us, and I’m just asking ye to sit.” His gaze was not merely open and guileless, but oddly compelling.

He seemed so kind, and her worries so silly, that she complied, moving closer. He reached for her waist to help her arrange her skirts and panniers. Finally she’d settled onto his lap, sitting crossways so she was looking at his chiseled features, distinct in the moonlight, as pale as new milk.

A strange energy thrummed through her body. She was acutely aware of the firm, muscular thighs beneath her, for she had never sat on a man’s lap before. Neither her father nor her husband had asked for or taken this intimacy. Did she like it? She wasn’t sure and became even less sure when the stranger, who had one arm touching her waist already, slid his other wide palm up her calf toward her knee.

Though his touch sent a tremor of desire shafting through her being, it unnerved her even more. She squirmed but he held her fast.

“Lassie, what worries ye?”

“You are taking liberties, sir, and we…haven’t been introduced.” What a stupid thing to have said. He must think her a fool. But what did it matter? She’d never see him again.

He chuckled. “Let’s just say that I’m a man who finds you quite alluring.”

Alluring. Lydia blinked. William had never said that.

“Remember, I’m affianced.”

“Ye’re here with me. Do ye love him?”

She cleared her throat. “We’ve never met.”

“Then ye’re sharing a stolen moment with a man you…dare I say a man you like?” He flirted, but his voice held a dark timbre that seduced her soul. And yet a note of humor, kindness even, tinctured his tone.

She hesitated, then looked into his eyes and was immediately calmed. She said, “Yes. You may dare.”

“And what else may I dare?” The hand on her leg rose to her face to play with a curl, stroke her cheek. She quivered and her breasts swelled, her nipples rubbing against the lawn of her shift. Flesh for which she had no words, the secret place at the junction of her thighs, heated, tightened, moistened.

She shifted on his lap, opening her legs and leaning forward a trifle, and that sensitive, secret spot rubbed against his leg, bringing a charge of pleasure she hadn’t known before. She hid her gasp behind her fan.

He smiled at her, his eyes knowing… Did he understand how powerfully he affected her?

This was wrong, wrong. She had to stop.

“Your eyes are warm chocolate on a chilly day.” His voice was as soft as the breeze, as soft as his caress down her cheek to her mouth, which he traced. “Your lips are a temptation that I cannae resist.”

“You presume much, sir.”

“Aye, I do, but I feel I know your heart.”

If he knew her heart, then he knew it beat faster than a racing stallion’s hooves.

He inclined his head toward her. His lips were carved marble in the moon’s silver rays. “Ye desire me, do ye not?”

“Desire isn’t enough.” She’d desired William, and her marriage bed had been either empty of her husband or the scene of brief trysts devoid of pleasure. She wouldn’t be seduced by a handsome stranger. What for?

“Please.” He asked, but then he took. His mouth felt cool on hers but with a touch of fire beneath. That fire raced through her, igniting parts of her she hadn’t known could feel such heat, such rapture. She gasped again from sheer surprise, and something intruded between her lips… Before heaven, was that his tongue?

No, Lydia thought. This isn’t me.

She reached for his wrist to slide her fingers toward his elbow. She wrapped her hand around his arm and dug her thumb into the muscle just in front of the joint.

He yelped and jerked away, dumping her off his lap. She landed gracefully, stood and stepped back a pace.

“Good,” she said. “I must have hit just the right spot.”

His eyes were amazed. “Where did a lady like ye learn such a trick?”

“My brother taught me.” She couldn’t help shooting him a triumphant smile as she tucked her fan into her reticule.

He shouted with laughter. “Ye’ll do, yes, ye will! Ye’ll make a fine wife.”

“I beg your pardon?” she said stiffly.

He grinned at her. “I’m Kieran.”

She gaped at him.

“Kieran Kilborn,” he added helpfully. “The man ye’ll marry.”

Author: Claudia D. Christian
Title: Love Blind
Blurb: 1978. Rio de Janeiro. Josephine made a desperate bargain with a vampire named Julio Alberto. Her life for another. Kept in a gilded cage, will she ever allow herself to truly love her charming captor?

Excerpt

“You did a selfless thing.”

Josephine kept her stare on Susie as agony swelled in her breast, knowing this was the last time she’d ever see her or anything from her old life again. She couldn’t breathe. Blinking rapidly, Josephine managed to sound calm and unmoved. “You think so?”

“Of course.” Julio Alberto waited until Susie went inside the small house before instructing the driver to return to the airport.

“Will Susie get in trouble with the police?”

“Why?”

“Two girls end up…you know…and are last seen with her.”

“She’ll be fine.” He leaned over and whispered, “The driver is like me. You don’t need to speak in code.”

Josephine’s gaze flew to the stranger. She was surprised when he kept his attention on the road.

“Marco works for me, Josephine. He was with us when I met you here, in Rio, and now.”

“Ah.” There was nothing more to say. Josephine leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes.

It’s over.

“No, my little kitty. It’s not over.”

Josephine gasped. Her eyes flew open. It wasn’t a coincidence. He’d been inside her mind from the beginning.

“It’s far from over.” Julio Alberto ran the back of his fingers against her colorless cheek. “I thought your love cheap, easy to buy, and easier to forget. Was I wrong?”

Blackness suffocated her heart. Josephine managed to say through numb lips, “No, you were right. You were right about me all along.”

His warm smile unfurled, washing over Josephine in an attempt to stem the terror clogging her mind.

“We’ll see, my little kitty. We will see.”

* * *

Over twenty years had passed since that fateful night. Josephine quickly learned the men she had called monsters were beings known as vampires. She also learned vampires were but one of many more preternatural species that had been walking the earth since time memorial.

Beauty, supremacy, and material wealth were these creatures birthright. Such powers naturally extended to Halfbloods, like Julio Alberto, which in turn favored their closest companions.

As a result, Josephine had only aged the equivalent of two human days in the following decades. Kept on a steady diet of Julio Alberto’s blood, she would be a young woman for a very, very long time. Meaning Julio Alberto had virtually all the time in the world to divine infinite ways of tormenting Josephine if he so chose.

She shifted, feeling the hard bite of the wooden chair beneath her legs. The ebony scarf kept her blind. The scarlet one kept her wrists immobile. Naked, but not necessarily helpless, she waited for Julio Alberto to speak and proceed with whatever devilry he had planned.

Maybe I finally made him angry enough to end me? It wouldn’t surprise me. Then he could find someone more docile and eager to please. Not a nasty tempered bitch like myself.

Josephine sensed him circling her. Occasionally he’d reach out and touch her hair, mouth, thighs, and the part of her he owned between those open thighs.

“I tell you this is getting aggravating, Josephine. All these years later and you still carry these crazy thoughts around in your head, querida.”

“I can’t help it.”

“Yes, you can. You just choose not to at the moment because it’s easier.”

“It’s not—”

“Hush. Why do you think you’re still here?”

“I don’t know.”

He slapped her sex. “Don’t be tiresome, querida. Remember who you are talking to. We have some variation of this conversation every year on this night. I could set my watch by it. While I am a patient man, even this could wear down a saint’s soul. Let’s try a bit a variety this time. Let’s go for the complete truth, my little kitty.”

Josephine bit back a feral moan. “Tell me what you want me to say, Julio Alberto.”

“Always quick to play the whore, eh?”

She felt him crouch before her. She lifted her head high. “I’m not playing. It’s who I am, baby.”

“Liar. You’re no more whore than I am. You never were a true whore, Josephine, no matter how much you want to think otherwise.” Julio Alberto cupped her knees. “You know what I want from you.”
