What is it about paranormal characters that makes them so irresistible? Vampires, shapeshifters, gargoyles–I can’t get enough of them. And when you pair them with a rock setting, I’m hooked. Something about the dark, solitary figure of the paranormal characters and the bad boy/bad girl image of the rock star draws me in.
I’m Lisa Carlisle and I write a paranormal romance series for Ellora’s Cave called Underground Encounters. Paranormal characters and humans meet in an underground goth club–vamps, shifters, gargoyles, and sometimes rock stars! Here are the two recent releases in the series (each can be read on its own, not necessarily in order).
Bloodlust and Metal
Book 4 in the Underground Encounters series
On the run from a master vampire, young vampire Layla Black flees London to reinvent herself as the singer of an Eighties cover band in Boston. Devon St. Clair is the bounty hunter hired to track her down. As a shapeshifter with extraordinary skills, his reputation is known throughout the supernatural world. Capturing Layla should be an easy gig that will net a nice profit.
The situation doesn’t go as Devon plans. He wants Layla in his bed, but shapeshifters and vampires don’t mix. They should hate each other, but instead they’re keeping the sheets steamy. When circumstances force them on the run together, their preconceived notions are challenged. If they can evade those hunting them and convince his fellow shapeshifters to help her even though she’s a vampire, they just might have a chance to explore where all that hot, sweaty sex can take them.

Reviews
“Bloodlust and Metal is a wonderful and enticing story.”
“The relationship between Devon and Layla in intricately built to lure the reader in. The enticement of love built from the ashes of the past is like catnip keeping the reader sitting on the edge. The evolution is amazing and demonstrates life can change even the most hardened heart.”

Rock Me Tonight
Third in the Underground Encounters series
Lily Everett wants a lover, but won’t consider a permanent relationship, because she harbors a secret she’s certain no one will understand. When she meets the singer of a rock band at an underground nightclub, she’s disarmed by his sensual voice and mischievous good looks. After an icy introduction, Lily warms up to Nico’s charms.
A computer geek by day, Nico dons a rock singer persona by night. He’s tired of women pursuing him just because he’s in a band—the sex may be handy, but he wants something more. He’s intrigued by Lily’s reticence.
Keeping her emotional distance proves difficult the more Lily uncovers the intelligent, considerate man hiding behind Nico’s bad-boy persona. Their encounters are hot-hot-hot, but Nico wants more from Lily than sex. When Lily lets down her guard and reveals her other side, Nico’s shock destroys their closeness and they both doubt they can overcome their differences.

The chemistry between Lily and Nico is off the charts. The sex is hot and steamy. They are a great match together in and out of the bedroom. ~ Night Owl Reviews
The one area that never failed to excite in this story was the sex – anywhere and everywhere… Lisa Carlisle has penned a really good story here in this installment; I’m now going to search out the first two in the series. ~ The Jeep Diva

At the end of November, Gargoyle’s Embrace will be released, a short hot story in the series. In preparation for the release, I’m giving away a copy of Bloodlust and Metal, where a shapeshifting bounty hunter is hired to track a young vampire. It should be a straightforward job, but Devon struggles against his attraction for Layla. Vampires and shapeshifters don’t mix.

Haven’t read any yet; any creature
I haven’t read any yet, but I think a werewolf would be a cool creature for such a story.
I have never read a paranormal rock n roll romance but it sounds real interesting.

I know I’ve read one with a vampire as the lead singer once.

Definitely a vampire. The concerts are usually at night. Rock stars can be pale and have a badass attitude just like a vampire.
Thanks for the giveaway!

sounds like a fun combo
Vampires, werewolves, demons would be great. Thanks for sharing the hop and your giveaway. I have added your series to my TBR. Thanks for sharing it evamillien at gmail dot com
I think it could work. Ummmm.. can I say Spike from ‘Buffy’?
I think it would be a good story. I would love to read one with shifters as the band members.

My fav urban fantasy rock’n’roll protagonist is Gini Koch’s Kitty Katt. She’s got to have her Aerosmith tshirt on and IPod pumping to fight those superbeings! Rock’n’roll is too full of thoughtless, bad boys reforming. See Cole in Maggy Stievator’s Shiver series. I don’t think a person has to be rude, carless of others’ feelings, and just plain mean at times to be in a band or appreciate loud music. Give the rock’n’roll characters heart; they’re really normal people on the inside.
