“Filled with action and a couple of blazing hot sexual encounters” ~ review from TRS

Thrilled to wake up to a review from the Romance Studio of Gargoyle’s Embrace.

“I enjoyed this paranormal romance story. This is a fast-paced story that is filled with action and a couple of blazing hot sexual encounters between the two main characters. I liked Tracy. She is strong and very intelligent. She has trust issues thanks to her creepy and crazy ex-boyfriend. But deep down she knows that Danton would never hurt her. I also liked her inner monologue, especially when it came to what she thought about Danton. I liked the gorgeous Danton too. He is strong, protective and simply adorable. I loved the way he was more than willing to fight her battles, but when danger found her, he let her fight the person — if you can call him a person — who wanted to hurt her. The love scenes between them are melting hot.”

Can’t Take a Shower without My Characters Bugging Me

It never fails. Just when I think I’ll get ten minutes of peaceful relaxation in the shower. No kids or co-workers asking me to do things. Something else happens. My characters start talking to each other, having zippy conversations. I can barely keep track and hope I’ll remember when I get out the shower. Or plot ideas rush to me and I hold on to the details so I don’t forget.

I’m guessing it’s what happens when you turn off all the other junk running through your mind that your creative side gets a few minutes. I don’t know. It’s a blessing and a curse. Sometimes my best ideas come to me when I’m trying to keep the shampoo out of my eyes. Other times I wish I could just get a few minutes of peaceful meditation.

Does this happen to you? Or something similar?

“A definite read for any PNR fan” – Jeep Diva on Gargoyle’s Embrace

Loving these quotes from the Jeep Diva’s review of Gargoyle’s Embrace:

“Gargoyle’s Embrace was exactly what I needed that to fill that hankering for a sweet, hot PNR.”

“This romance is sweet, with just the right combination steam and story to make this PNR fanatic smile.”

“Gargoyles are quickly turning into my favorite kind of hero. This is a definite read for any PNR fan.”

Fifth in the Underground Encounters series. Tracy isn’t sure why she’s drawn to a particular gargoyle statue in the Goth club where she works. After the stone takes human form to protect her from her abusive ex, she brings the handsome, naked male to her apartment. It’s impossible to ignore the seductive appeal of a man sculpted like a Viking warrior. Danton has only hours in human form to spend with the woman he has hungered for. He’s convinced what’s between them is more than hot sex, but he needs to convince Tracy of that before he turns back to stone.

Lisa Carlisle Presents Tips on Revising Your Nanowrimo Novel

How many of you participated in National Novel Writing Month this past November, where you pledge to write a 50,000 novel in thirty days? Many authors love it; others hate it. I look forward to the challenge and the idea of committing myself to focusing on a novel for one month a year. So many other priorities get in the way if I let them, but in November my mantra is Nano, Nano, Nano.

This is my fourth year and I’ve come up with a post-nano revision process. At the end of November, I have a completed novel. Yeah! Yet, it is far from finished. It’s a messy first draft with a number of unnamed characters, question marks, and comments for me to address in the revisions. I wrote up some tips on the process I generally follow over at Savvy Authors.

“We should get married.”

Caitlyn didn’t blink nor twitch a muscle for a good five seconds. She must have misunderstood. “Married?” she repeated, her jade eyes opening wide as she put down the magazine. “What are you talking about? I thought you were talking about dinner. You’re joking, right?”

“No, I’m not joking. I’m completely serious.”

“Masters, get out of here,” Caitlyn said with a flick of her wrist. “I think all that thin air from rock climbing earlier has gone straight to your head.” She glanced at the television and saw a commercial with a couple exchanging rings in some outdoor setting. What the heck was this show even about? Whatever it was, it must have been where he came up with that cockamamie idea. “I still think we should go into Naha. It’s a Saturday night, we can get some noodles and some drinks. Go for a walk in the outdoor markets, maybe even go dancing,” she emphasized. She was pushing her luck with that idea. In all the time she knew him, Lance Corporal Slade Masters did not dance.

Slade ignored her and stood up. “You see,” he began, pacing the room already like a lawyer presenting a case, “we both want some privacy. You want to get away from guys hitting on you. I want to get off-base so I can study. Do you know how much they make you read in these law courses? If I’m ever going to graduate, I can’t live in a box with loud Marines stumbling in drunk all hours of the night. If we get married, we’d get a housing allowing since the staff housing is all full. Then we’d share an apartment off base and get out of these goddamn barracks.”

While watching him outlining his points with such confidence, Caitlyn found it hard not to drool. Outdoorsy, masculine, and intellectual. His self-assurance filled the area around him like a physical presence; She couldn’t help but be impressed by him. His tone, his gait, all commanded attention. He’d be an excellent officer one day if he wanted to. Or a lawyer or politician. He’s a natural leader. People can’t help but look up to him.

At the same time, Caitlyn tried to get over the shock of Slade’s unexpected proposal. Slade Masters was the one Marine she secretly fantasized about for months, ever since they met in training in the States. Now they were living across the hall in Okinawa, Japan. They started out friends, but as they grew closer, Caitlyn developed stronger feelings—something she could never admit without harming their friendship.

“I never pictured you to be the marrying type,” Caitlyn remarked.

“Why not?”

“You’re always so focused on other things. Your running times, scuba-diving, grades—never something as ‘trivial’ as romance.”

“This isn’t about romance. It’s about being practical.”

“Oh, of course.” Caitlyn smirked. “Naturally.” She knew there had to be a catch.

I hope this is the start of many new releases coming out in 2014. I’ve completed the first draft of a paranormal erotic romance in my Underground Encounters series with Ellora’s Cave. Gargoyle’s Embrace just came out. It’s a sexy shorter story in the series, what they aptly call “Quickies.”
